Overview of the District of Columbia Small Business Development Center Network (DC SBDC) .

The DC SBDC Network is an outreach program of Howard University, working in partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), other District of Columbia universities, and community organizations, to provide free technical assistance and affordable training in all phases of business development to District of Columbia based small businesses. Our trained and skilled business counselors provide one-on-one assistance in a myriad of areas, at no extra cost to the client. Each year, one-on-one counseling is provided to thousands of small business owners and managers.

Counseling includes but is not limited to:

  • Financial forecasting
  • Market research
  • Procurement assistance
  • Proposal cost analysis
  • Overall business assessment "The Business Health Checkup"
  • Startup feasibility analysis
  • Business plan assessments
  • Strategic planning

Management counseling offered through the DC SBDC Network is available to District of Columbia based businesses and District of Columbia residents interested in starting a small business in the District of Columbia.
